Love Horoscope for the Week of May 16

Love Horoscope for the Week of May 16

Do you like drama? Are you a big fan of suspense? Do you love the thrills and chills that you get when you watch a horror movie with someone in a hockey mask chasing teenagers around with a machete? Well, if so, you needn’t fear the Total Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio on Monday — probably. But let me do my best to generate a little horror for you anyway. That’s largely the effect Eclipses seem to have on astrology fans anyway.

Admittedly, Eclipses are important and can in fact be life-changing based on where they fall in your birth chart, and what aspects they make to other points in your chart. Eclipses also tend to withhold their full effect until they’re triggered by another transit some time in the next few months. For the most part, though, in terms of a general weekly horoscope, I would say treat this eclipse at 25 degrees Scorpio as just a particularly steroid-filled Full Moon. So maybe there won’t be any disasters but when you go to work on Monday morning, don’t be surprised if you and a lot of your co-workers have stories to tell about restless sleep and/or strange dreams the night before. Oh, and also, if you have major placements in your birth chart close to 25 degrees of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, or Aquarius, then maybe it’s time you talk to an astrologer. There’s big stuff going on for you!

If you’ve noticed that your romantic prospects lately have been a mixed bag at best, there is a reason for that. When it comes to romantic pursuits, the sugar and spice of the zodiac are Venus and Mars. Both of those planets find themselves in awkward places.

Recently, Venus (the sweetness and light part of the romance equation) is still in Aries. Venus is traditionally supposed to be a pleasant girl who sits there quietly and looks pretty until someone notices. This is pretty much the exact opposite of how Aries usually approaches life. On the other hand, Mars is the spicy sex drive part of the romantic impulse. It is still in Pisces and still within conjunction range of Neptune. Mars likes to take the lead and take bold action, and these are two qualities that Pisces is not automatically associated with. Interesting things can happen though, when Mars is conjunct Neptune, as it is this week. Neptune has a tendency to dissolve and diffuse any planet that it touches. You might think that Mars wouldn’t respond kindly to that sort of thing. However, this aspect can make for a lot of charm and charisma.

So when you put the two of these together for the next while, Venus and Mars might make your love life more a matter of soliciting for affection. And not necessarily getting it or getting it from who you want, or when you want. Go ahead and blame it on Mercury retrograde if you like… that’s what we all do!
